Have you dreamed about a horseback riding holiday in Tuscany, Italy?
For over 40 years, we have been offering horseback riding vacations in one of the most beautiful and natural regions of Italy: Maremma Toscana. Our hotel, agriturismo and equestrian centre cater to all levels of riders from experts to beginners. On horseback you will experience nature in an up close and special way. The wonderful views span from the mountains to the coast in the west, and to Siena in the northeast. Horse riding in Tuscany Italy is really a special experience.
During your horse riding holidays in Tuscany, there are many options for riding and relaxing. You may choose to spend an hour on horseback and spend the rest of the day relaxing at the pool of the agriturismo, or you may decide to ride for the entire day. Here are some example destinations of our Trail Rides:
A woodsy, farm-spotted path leads you to former silver mines and a wonderful view of the sea and Tuscany. In the morning, we pass through the small medieval alleys of the village of Gerfalco.
Ride through the crystal waters of the Merse River and experience how nature has recaptured former agricultural land over the years. On warm days, the high point of the riders' week is a swim with the horses in the river. After the picnic we may visit one of the famous monuments of Italy: the abbey ruins of San Galgano.
This ride leads through fields along a ridge and then down to the Cecina River and a shady forest. We arrive at the abandoned Therme of Galleraie, where we can visit ruins of an antique bath from the time of the Etruscans.
Old trade and animal paths cross through the native forests in this area. Here, one often sees wild animals such as wild boar, deer, fox and porcupines. From the "Poggio di Prata" you will see a 360 degree view of Tuscany.
Bring also your non-riding partner! While most of our clients come for horse riding, mountain biking, cycling or walking, other travellers choose our hotel to discover the hidden treasures of “Minor Tuscany” and to visit the nearby art cities. Some also come to take refuge in this oasis of tranquillity far away from mass tourism and city life. Prategiano is an ideal starting point to get to know the stunning area between Siena, Florence, Volterra, San Gimignano, Grosseto and the coast. Here, one can enjoy a rich cultural landscape centred in nature while being within easy driving distance of some of the most famous cities of Italy. On horseback, by bike or on foot: You will certainly fall in love with this quiet and remote region of Italy. Your activity and horse holidays here will certainly be an unforgettable experience.Book your horse riding in Tuscany
